Believing is Seeing in Golf
Many golfers recognize that change is needed in their golf game, change is desired at that moment. This change could revolve around a better swing, better short game technique such as chipping or putting or even a better outcome on a hole they are playing. For the most part it is not difficult for golfers to see change. However what is difficult for most is to comprehend how that change will take place.
If you are one of the many golfers who see that change is needed, congratulations. You have taken the first step to finding that change. You may be thinking, “this is pretty obvious” to know that change is needed.
Where golfers find bumps in their path going forward with this desired change is part of their ego-mind which desires to know how this change is going to take place. As you can see, this can become an anxiety filled situation if you seem to be overwhelmed with how the change may take place or manifest for you.
The good news in this situation is that you do not need all the answers at this point. You just simply need belief.
Belief is a huge word in golf, and any part of your life for that matter. Without belief in something that you wish to obtain or receive in your life, you simply will not find what you desire or want.
You have heard the phrase “seeing is believing” I”m sure. This statement is a reflection of you seeing something in your golf game appear continually that you want or wish to see, through basically random events or “default” as I describe it to my students.
This is a dis-empowering stance to take with your golf game. To rely on events you see when you play to occur “out of the blue” is like saying on any given hole you will just tee it up, swing and follow the ball, hoping to get it into the hole with few strokes taken.
Golfers who actually use their creative power are the ones that create lower scores when they play. They utilize the universal laws to assist them in the creations they see when they play. Remember, as a golfer, you are the creator of your reality never the victim!
From this premise it is important for you to see and realize that the first step in creating what you desire to see when you play is believing you can achieve these changes that you wish to see. Many golfers believe that if they change a swing technique or strategy when they play a certain hole then they will see a better outcome.
The problem here is they never “believed” the change or better shot or outcome on that hole “would” occur. Hopefully you can identify that if you do not believe in something then you will not see it appear before you!
The reality you create when you play is based on the beliefs you have for yourself, since you are creating this game for yourself (or reality). The belief you hold is the magnet that attracts the outcome that you desire. Without this magnet, your outcome cannot be seen when you play.
Thus the magnet of this situation that attracts the desired outcome you wish to see before your eyes……is your belief! First you must believe that you can change the situation or reality you see when you practice or play. From this point, you need to allow the change to unfold in front of you. Golfers struggle with this scenario also, because they have limited “vision” of how the outcome will occur.
The truth of the matter is that your desired outcome that you wish to see can occur in many different ways. Just because I visualized my tee shot in the fairway and it ended up in the rough does not mean I will bogey they hole. If I firmly believe I will par the hole or better, then the magnetic forces of reality can attract a very large variety of scenarios for this to occur. Golfers struggle with this because they want the perfect hole sequence of shots to appear before them.
To look at this from an easier perspective, realize that you are an infinite creator of shots, realities when you play. Your reality you will see when playing golf is reflected to you by your beliefs.
So if you wish to change your game, first start with your beliefs. Starts small if you have to on the course, but recognize that to see what you desire, you must believe it possible first , to attract it to you like a magnet. Begin to believe differently and you will see change!
